NIGP has been developing, supporting, and promoting the public procurement profession through premier educational and research programs, professional support, technical services, and advocacy initiatives that benefit members and other important stakeholders since 1944.

"NIGP" stands for the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. In 2011, they adopted “NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement” as the go-to-market identity for the Institute to promote our leadership role in supporting public procurement practitioners.
